Shoulder Season

Seasons run the world. Seasons run tourist spots, school and work times, and so much more.

The opportunity to capitalize in the high season elevates prices, activity, and can buoy entire communities in just a few weeks a year. But it also begs the question, what about the rest of the time.

Shoulder season refers to the time in-between seasons, usually between summer and winter peak seasons and vice versa. It is usually accompanied by low tourist attendance and cheaper prices. If you have the flexibility, travelling during shoulder season is the recommended time due to lower wait times and prices on almost everything.

These seasons are paralleled throughout our lives in peaks and troughs. From times of great progress, to times of stagnation. Success, and failure. Life and death. But it is the in-between that I think have the greatest opportunity for a rebrand.

The proverbial shoulder season presents an opportunity to be more introspective. It gives us all a chance to take a step back from the action and to assess the previous chapter, and plan for the next one.
