Make Your Day Great

Sometimes days won’t go the way they’re planned. During those times you have a choice to make, accept that or see an opportunity to make your day great. And you just might find that your unplanned day turns out better than any plans you could have imagined. Those are the days that mark a life well-lived.

I hope you had a wonderful day, touched grass, and shared a laugh or two. Maybe enjoyed some ice cream and tacos as well.

The pan feature is pretty impressive, if you’ve been noticing the past few days I’ve been using it.

Revising idle cash action plan:

Interesting and actionable ways you can enable more of your days great is for your money to work for you when at rest.

Here’s the low-down on what to do with cash not required for immediate purchases, but also not meant to be placed into higher yielding riskier assets.

  1. Put the cash into tax advantaged accounts (TFSA, RRSP, FHSA)

  2. In those accounts find the appropriate ticker symbol for a money market account based on your financial institution. It looks like mrthrifty wrote a post on it on July 1, how convenient. A few early readers will remember I first mentioned this on Day 18 back in May. Scotia is offering 4.6% on $C, wow. https://mrthrifty.ca/investment-savings-accounts-maximize-interest-in-your-brokerage-account/

  3. Move money into the ticker. Hypothetically, on $10,000 4.6% annualized is $38.33 a month. Nothing crazy to write home about, but it’s money that you’re effectively not getting anything on if you don’t do this.

Threads by Meta was launched today. I’m very curious to see if it emerges as yet another social network that already established creators use or if there are some unique aspects that make it different. I’m convinced that Meta has the know-how to make threads a successful product, but the jury is still out on how this impacts Twitter’s usage and place in the ecosystem.
