Direction and Distraction
If I had a dollar for every time someone said they were looking for direction…
A well defined North Star makes almost every subsequent decision much easier because you can assess it against whether or not it brings you closer to your goal.
But life is complex, a multifaceted, multivariate, string of random events and decisions and outcomes that may have nothing to do with anything. Distractions are abound and letting them get the best of you is bound to happen on this long journey.
Connecting with our peers can fill our cups with energy, yet the act of inviting possibility into our lives also introduces distractions.
Navigating the unprecedented volume of social relationships that we have access to from every facet of all of your previous lives through social media connections, follows, and friends is hard. There’s no ifs ands or buts, we live in unprecedented times when it comes to information current and voltage. In particular, the kind of information that implicitly or explicitly tells you that you should be or could be doing more of something, less of the other thing, or something completely different.
Cherish these moments, they remind you that your existence is but one in a sea of possibilities.
Then, after that moment of multiverse musings. Recalibrate your compass and double down on your direction.
Your raison d’être is not simply a destination.
