An imagined dance

Dave Chapelle Monologue

[Spotlight on. Dave Chappelle walks onto the SNL stage, microphone in hand, a slight smirk on his face.]

Dave Chappelle: "Y'all remember Michael Jordan, right? That man, in his last season with the Bulls...man, that was somethin' else. 'The Last Dance,' they called it. Like a ballet with sweat and a Spalding. Jordan was up against the ropes, but that didn't stop him. No, sir. The higher the pressure, the higher he jumped...and I ain't talkin' 'bout his bald head scraping the ceiling. That man could dunk!"

[Audience laughter]

Chappelle: "But this ain't just about sports. It's about that fight, that hustle. Let's talk about this tech giant...Microsoft. You know, the folks who bless us with updates when we least expect them. The ones who invented the blue screen of death."

[Audience laughter]

Chappelle: "Well, Microsoft's head honcho, Satya Nadella, he's got that Jordan spirit. Says he's gonna make Google, the almighty Google, dance to his tune in this AI thing. Kinda like making Godzilla do the cha-cha, don't ya think?"

[Audience laughter]

Chappelle: "That's like me challenging Kevin Hart to a high jump contest. Sure, it sounds crazy, but you know what? It's got that zing. It's got that hustle. It's got that 'Last Dance' energy. And if there's anything we need in this world right now, it's the guts to dance, even when the music's playing way too fast."

[Audience applause]

Chappelle: "So here's to Microsoft, tryin' to play Jordan in the fourth quarter, ball in hand, clock ticking down, Google on defense. Here's to the last dances, and making the big guys move to our beat. 'Cause if there's anything that can turn the game around, it's that belief that we got the power to make 'em dance!"

[Standing ovation. End scene.]

Uncanny resemblance

I really tried using Runway Gen-2 to animate this image. As a vast number of tools flood the market, the truth is that only a select few actually produce great content in the first few iterations. Runway misses the mark when I upload this image to their image to video tool the outputs do not resemble the image at all.

The outputs that some people are getting are astounding, if the top AI tools aren’t acquired by big tech, I think there could really be a renaissance of new upstarts on the block. That said the Bing Dall-E model is almost as good and is free.
